The organization of this book is weird and unhelpful. I hoped for and expected something much more in-depth and not so silly. I don't plan my travel around this type of ranking of "attractions" and I don't need some editor to tell me what are the "best" or "top ten" of rather obvious and insipid categories of things in a rather wide geographical area. Traveling the English countryside pretty much necessitates a car and covering some distance, so inevitably a day's travel plan will start with a consideration of DISTANCE and location, not whether a tea shop or scone is one of the 10 best in a rather large stretch of countryside. (Given the success rate of tea shops, most of those listed will probably be defunct by the time you arrive anyway.) And ranking cathedrals and museums in order of "best" is just inane. Most of them are not comparable and anyway, one's particular interests determine what is "best."In addition, the pull out map is much too small to read without a magnifying glass and I have perfect vision! The supposed convenience of this miniaturization is completely negated by its unreadability.I have used this publisher's Eye Witness Travel Guide to Great Britain for 10 years and recently bought the latest edition. I have found them most helpful for trip planning and recommend them without reservation. I expected something similar and more in-depth for the area of Devon and Cornwall and was very disappointed. I guess I missed the significance of the "Top Ten" title when I decided to buy this smaller guide!

This Eyewitness top 10 guide is a great place to start planning your trip. First, it gives overall highlights of the top 10 places to visit. Next, it breaks down each of the highlights into top 10 features. Also included: great walks, festivals, beaches, culinary specialties, cathedrals & churches, gardens, houses, museums, children's attractions, pubs, shopping, & train rides. There are suggestions on lodging, things to avoid, and security and health. Also practical info such as transportation, customs regulations, electrical appliances, drivers license, passports & visas, currency, postal services and phone service. Included with this little guide is a pull-out map. Pictures are great.

This guide is the one to take on your trip. It's small and thin, but equipped with sturdy pull-out maps, practical travel tips for the non-natives, regional highlight attractions, and even a few accommodation suggestions. The page layout is also appealing, with color photos on every page, and headings followed by numbered entries so you can pick out whatever most strikes your fancy in a flash.

This book with its great photos inspired a desire to visit the sites. It would be helpful to include information on getting there.

I love the DK travel books, always high quality and informative. This is more of an abbreviated version of a guide book, but still provides enough information for you to plan your trip well.

Was useful in deciding how to organize my vacation in Cornwall this summer.

The Top 10/Eye Witness Guides are usually my starting place for travel information, as they give a solid overview. However, this one seems to be a bit long on lists and short on depth and could use more photos.

Somewhat disorganized in presenting information, but it provides good planning advice for a Devon/Cornwall vacation. Small and light, so easy enough to bring long on the trip.
